The Panelists:
Dr. Amina Blackwood Meeks - ABM College Orator, Storyteller and Awardee of Catapult Grant for Caribbean Artist Showcase, and Author and widely acknowledged for her instrumental contribution to the recent renaissance of the art-form of traditional Caribbean storytelling.
Emely Ramirez is a Belizean educator. She has spent most of the past twenty-eight years as an early childhood educator. She is currently a Preschool Administrator in the southernmost town of Belize. Her love of literacy and culture lead her to publish her first children’s storybook based on the Belizean Garifuna culture.
Francis Urias Peters is a Grenadian Theatre -in- Education Consultant. He is a playwright and Artistic Director of the LaBoucan Creative Centre. He is a graduate of the Jamaica School of Drama (Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts). He recently wrote and produced a radio series on Parenting during Covid entitled “In Times Like These.”
Kennedy “Boots” Samuel is a Saint Lucian that is proud of his African and his Creole Heritage. He is an Educator, Theatre Practitioner, Cultural Activist, and Parent of three children. He has been in the forefront of the development of Popular Theatre in the Eastern Caribbean from the seventies. Storytelling is a fundamental tool in all his work.
Owen Blakka Ellis is a Jamaican writer, educator and performing artist, Director of Communications, PR and Research of an entertainment production and talent management agency; Lecturer, Voice, Speech, Gender awareness, equity, rights; Coordinator arts-in-education community project; Performing theatre, storytelling, stand-up comedy, poetry, percussions
Glynis Salmon is a Jamaican publisher, Communication Specialist, advocate and an active participant in advancing social good through volunteerism and social outreach.
